The Problems With Using Adwords

Making money with paid advertising can be a tricky proposition. Many new marketers come online and immediately sigh up to a program such as Google Adwords aiming to quickly get traffic and sales. For most though this does not happen and it either puts them off trying to make money online or they move on to free methods such as blogging or article marketing.

The difficulty with Adwords is that it can be very unforgiving. If you make mistakes then you can find your budget has disappeared and you do not have much time to repair the problem. If you make a mistake with search engine optimization you can always spend time fixing it, but when you are paying for each click this is not the case. For new marketers it is probably best advised to start off with free methods before tackling paid methods. If you have a budget then you can always chalk up the mistakes to experience and over time you should be able to make back your money. If you have decided to pay for advertising there are some hints you should think about.

Firstly, you should track and test everything. If you are making sales you need to know where they are coming from so every keyword should be tracked for its effectiveness. Make sure you split-test each of your adverts and when you find a winner, you try it against another advert. Try different landing pages to see which converts best and again split-test these with others. You should also consider recommending the product of the competitor to monitor which sells most. Just because one of them pays a higher affiliate commission does not mean it will make you more money.

Secondly, concentrate on the journey you take your visitor on. Consider them inputting a keyword and from there you should give them a relevant ad. After they click your advert you should them give them information on what they are looking for. The most often seen forms are a pre-sell page where you warm the prospect to the product, and a review page where you review the product you are promoting. Finally they will click onto the product page and this should be a smooth process from keyword to purchase.

If you implement these strategies you should be well on your way to being successful and you will be well ahead of most marketers who just throw up a website and try and get as much traffic as possible to it losing money in the process.
